HIV Screening
If you have questions about getting an HIV test, you can talk with a counselor, educator, or your health care provider before you decide to be tested. Some testing sites require pre- and post-test counseling. It is important to know whether the testing program is confidential or anonymous. Confidential testing does not assure you of anonymity, but understand that all medical records are bound by strict laws that protect privacy. It is also important to be sure you understand what the test results mean (and do not mean). Education and counseling about HIV testing can be obtained at McKinley Health Center or at some of the organizations identified above.
